Setting up a WordPress site is quick and straightforward using the Softaculous application installer in cPanel. Follow these steps to install WordPress:
Step 1: Log in to cPanel
- Access your cPanel account.
- If you’re unsure how to log in, refer to your hosting provider’s instructions.
Step 2: Open Softaculous
- For the Jupiter Theme: On the Tools page, locate the Softaculous Apps Installer section and click on it or select an icon under Scripts or Categories.
- For the Paper Lantern Theme: In the Softaculous Apps Installer section on the cPanel home screen, click Softaculous Apps Installer or any of the icons under Scripts or Categories.
Step 3: Locate WordPress
- In the search bar, type WordPress and press Enter.
- Alternatively, navigate using the left pane: Click Blogs, then select WordPress.
Step 4: Start Installation
- Click Install to begin the installation process.
Step 5: Configure Installation Settings
Protocol
- Choose the desired protocol:
- Select https:// or https://www. if you have an SSL certificate installed.
- Otherwise, select http:// or http://www.
Domain and Directory
- Choose Domain: Select the domain where WordPress will be installed.
- In Directory: Leave this field blank to install WordPress directly on your domain (e.g.,
example.com). Otherwise, specify a directory (e.g.,example.com/blog).
Site Details
- Site Name: Enter a name for your site (e.g., “My Blog”).
- Site Description: Provide a short description of your site.
Multisite Option
- To enable WordPress Multisite (WPMU), check the corresponding box.
Administrator Account
- Admin Username: Set the administrator username.
- Admin Password: Create a strong password (Softaculous will indicate its strength). Alternatively, use the random password generator icon.
- Admin Email: Provide the site administrator’s email address.
Language and Plugins
- Select Language: Choose the default language for WordPress.
- Limit Login Attempts Plugin: Check this box to improve site security.
Step 6: Advanced Options
- Click the Advanced Options icon to reveal additional settings:
- Database Name: Enter a name for the database or use the default.
- Table Prefix: Specify a database table prefix or accept the default.
- Update Notifications: Choose whether to receive email notifications for updates.
- A2 Hosting Recommendation: Enable notifications to keep your site secure and up-to-date.
- Auto-Upgrades:
- Enable automatic updates for WordPress, plugins, and themes.
- Backup Settings:
- Choose a backup location and set the frequency of automated backups.
Step 7: Complete the Installation
- Provide an email address in the Email installation details to field to receive the configuration details after installation.
- Review all settings and click Install.
Step 8: Access Your WordPress Site
Once installation is complete, Softaculous will display your WordPress site and admin panel URLs. Use the credentials you set earlier to log in and start customizing your site.
